2006 – 3rd Quarter Investments

So Others Might Eat (SOME): $916,369 loan to acquire a vacant apartment building at 1667 Good Hope Road, SE in the Anacostia neighborhood and renovate into 46 units of affordable housing for low income families, homeless, senior citizens and other special needs populations.

New Beginnings Cooperative: $1,816,471 loan to purchase their 17 unit building at 2922 Sherman Ave NW in the Columbia Heights neighborhood that will be rehabilitated and converted to a limited equity cooperative.

Building Bridges Across the River: $30,000 Grant for operating support as they manage THE ARC in Congress Heights.

Medical House Call Program:$25,000 Grant to support operations for this program of the Washington Hospital Center that sends doctors, nurse practitioners and social workers on house visits to frail elderly, low income residents in the Shaw, Ledroit Park, Columbia Heights and Petworth neighborhoods. The program currently serves 520 sick, frail and elderly low income seniors.

1363 Peabody Street NW Cooperative:$1.5 million dollar loan to the tenants association at 1363 Peabody St. NW in the Brightwood neighborhood for the acquisition of their 30 unit apartment building to be converted to affordable condominiums or cooperatives.

Gala Hispanic Theatre: $100,000 working capital loan to bridge incoming grants for 2006 as they expand their number of productions.

Victory Housing: $25,000 grant for furniture, fixtures and equipment for Victory Heights, a 75-unit senior housing development in Columbia Heights.

African Heritage Dancers and Drummers: $25,000 grant for the renovation and build out of 1320-B Good Hope Rd. SE, their new headquarters.

Manna Inc.: $33,600 grant to support their ongoing green building efforts.
