On May 18th, our long-term partner, THC (Transitional Housing Corporation), honored us with their Community Leadership Award. The Transitional Housing Corporation is a nonprofit that provides housing and comprehensive support services to homeless and at-risk families so that they can transform their own lives.
The award was presented at THC’s 25th anniversary celebration, Living in the City, at the Mead Center for American Theater (Arena Stage). “We are thrilled to honor LISC for their support of affordable housing. Thank you for all you do!” said Kim Griffith, Chair of THC’s Board of Directors.
We cherish this award because it remind us of who we are and what we have and can contribute to improving the quality of life in the neighborhoods of DC.
One of our most memorable collaborations with THC has been our investment in the Weinberg Commons apartments. Weinberg Commons, when renovation is complete this summer, will be home to 36 families and individuals.
It is DC’s first multi-family passive house development, a method of redevelopment that creates a highly energy efficient building that will not only decrease energy consumption, but also decrease the cost of utility bills for residents.
Because of the need for more housing that is affordable to lower income households and our commitment to THC, we went all in – investing in all phases of the financing of Weinberg Commons, from grant funding to permanent financing.
We look forward to celebrating the grand opening of Weinberg Commons and investing in the future work of THC.
