LISC Staff and Special Awards 2010

• DC LISC and Oramenta Newsome were awarded the Baptist Community Development Award. The Award was created to honor CityFirst Bank of DC’s founding President and CEO Debbi Hurd Baptist (1949-2000). The award recognizes community development practitioners who share Ms. Baptist’s energy and commitment to ensuring that underserved communities have access to the technical and financial resources needed to create prosperity and growth. As a result, DC LISC received a contribution of $1000 to support our work.

• The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) presented two recognition awards to LISC. The first was in recognition of our Platinum Sponsorship of CNHED’s 10th Anniversary Year. The second was in recognition of our “ongoing support of CNHED and the residents of the District of Columbia. 2000 – 2010.” Both were awarded during their 10th Anniversary Celebration held November 9, 2010.

• Longtime LISC partner Manna awarded Oramenta Newsome the American Dream Award, in recognition of LISC’s support over the past 27 years in helping hundreds of low income families achieve first-time homeownership.
