Update on National LISC’s Redevelopment Efforts in the Gulf Region

In the past year, LISC has made a long term commitment to rebuilding communities in the Gulf region damaged by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. From investing in the physical rebuilding of communities to the supporting of local nonprofit organizations on the ground, LISC is in for the long haul.

Activities in the Gulf Region since the 2005 hurricane season:
♦ $32 million in grants, loans
and equity invested.
♦ 370 homes repaired
♦ 520 homes in development
♦ 1,000 evacuee families
assisted.

Our work in the region is made possible through the financial support of The Rockefeller Foundation, The Garfield Foundation, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Prudential Financial, Citizens Bank, The Home Depot Foundation, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, The Seattle Foundation, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and hundreds of individuals.

While we have made a good start, there remains an enormous amount of work to be done. LISC is committed and well-positioned to carry this out.
