Shops at Park Village:
Construction is well under way at the Shops at Park Village, a 110,000 sq.ft. retail center along Alabama Ave SE in Congress Heights. Giant food received a permit to begin building and leases have been signed with several retailers.
Dance Institute of Washington:
DIW has completed their new headquarters/dance center and will celebrate
their grand opening from November 2nd through the 5th. Their new space at 3400 14th St. NW in Columbia Heights is 12,000 square feet—allowing them to double the number of students.
Atlas Performing Arts Center:
The Atlas officially opened their two large theatre spaces and moved in the resident theatre companies in September. With only a few “punch list” items to address and other small details, the Atlas is completely finished. They will be holding a series
of grand opening events the week of November 8-12, 2006.
The Kingsbury School:
In June 2006, Kingsbury celebrated their first high school graduation, with sixteen students receiving a diploma. In 2001, the Kingsbury School moved from their cramped location in Dupont Circle to the Dickson Mansion on the 5000 block of 14th Street N.W. in the Carter Barron neighborhood. Each year since the move they have added one grade, starting with grade 9.
Located at 1800 28th Place SE in the Randle Highlands neighborhood, East of the River CDC finished construction on this 18 unit condo building, 16 have been sold.
